WHAT IS THE SIV SCHEME?
The Special Interest Vehicle (SIV) Concession Scheme is a Queensland Government program that allows eligible classic and historic vehicles to be registered at a reduced fee, reflecting their limited and restricted road use. As an incorporated vehicle club, the Queensland Supra Club Inc is an approved authorising body under the scheme.
VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY
Your vehicle must be at least 30 years old to qualify. For Supras, this currently means A40, A50, A60, and A70 models. A80s (1993–2002) are approaching eligibility — check your manufacture date carefully.
MODIFIED VEHICLES
Modified vehicles (engine, seating etc.) are eligible as long as the vehicle particulars haven't changed (make, model, year, chassis number) and any modifications are engineer certified if required.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT
You must hold active Queensland Supra Club membership at the time of application and maintain it for the duration of your registration under the scheme. Lapsed membership means your concession must be removed.
WHAT TO CARRY
Carry digital proof of your reason for travel. Events listed on the Queensland Supra Club website or our Facebook and Instagram pages are accepted as valid proof.
CONDITIONS OF USE
The SIV scheme comes with strict conditions on how your vehicle can be used. These are set by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and apply at all times.
✓ PERMITTED USE
✓ Club sanctioned events, rallies and impromptu club events
✓ Processions with a Special Events Permit
✓ Display at fetes, shows or charitable/educational functions
✓ Ceremonial use (weddings, formals, funerals) for immediate family — not for fee or reward
✓ Travel to and from any of the above activities
✓ Road testing within 30km of where the vehicle is garaged
✓ Travel to an approved inspection station or for repairs
✗ NOT PERMITTED
✗ General everyday use — commuting, shopping, errands
✗ Use for hire or reward of any kind
✗ Booked hire services (rideshare, limo hire etc.)
✗ Any use outside the permitted conditions above
Penalties apply. Using your SIV registered vehicle outside permitted conditions may result in fines or your concession being withdrawn. Additionally, your compulsory third party and comprehensive insurance may become null and void if your vehicle is involved in a crash while being used contrary to the scheme conditions.
Active membership required. Applications are open to anyone, but you must hold an active Queensland Supra Club membership to be approved. If you're not yet a member, become a member here before submitting your application.
